We had been visiting Westminster Abbey (really good!) and took a stroll through St James’s park, waved to the Queens guards on horseback (them on horseback not me) and settled down for lunch at the Bbar London (Buckingham Palace road) which has a cool colonial South African vibe.
St James’s park is at the heart of ceremonial London. Even these ducks are paddling as a troop.
Buckingham Palace. So, I’m trying to spot the Queen from the bridge. It’s the Queens birthday tomorrow when she’ll wave from the balcony.
Turn around and it’s all rather James Bond. Well, in the film Sky Fall those white buildings on the left are where they filmed the lovely Daniel Craig gazing those blue eyes over the roof tops of London.
I’m getting rather distracted by a small group of ducks diving below the water and eating sommat from the bottom. I couldn’t believe how long they held their breath for! I’d like to see James Bond do that (I really would).
Visitors were surprised to see an over zealous squirrel climb up a ladies leg for food. Not very British!
Our boys in red. All British people wave, clap and grin. We have to, it’s genetic. It’s lovely to see visitors enjoying our pomp.
With grumbling tums we reach our lunch spot, just behind the Palace. It’s next to and recommended by 41 Hotel which is very classy and on my wish list.
We were made very welcome and comfortable and throughout the service was exceptional. Hubby is loving it and is sold at ‘salt beef’.
For starters we enjoyed a soft crab salad. We shared it, so this is 1/2 a portion!
Hubby told the waiter he may never leave as the big leather chairs are so comfortable. He said he gets that a lot and printed out the Supplier’s contact details for us.
With a family wedding coming up I opted for the Veggie burger, which was a lush layer of cooked beetroot, goats cheese and toasted walnuts. Yes, fat chips have less calories than fries.
Apparently the fries were veeery good.
Pudding time! This was thick slabs of honeycomb ice-cream and was amazing.
Mine was the happiest berry cheesecake you ever did see. It wasn’t too sweet so suited my tastes perfectly.
The Bbar London is a brilliant spot for a relaxed meal
