Our little French Bulldog puppy Bilbo came home to join our dog crazy family a week ago. He had the challenge of joining our existing pack of dogs who all have their distinctive character traits. This is a picture diary of how the little fella got on.
Peering over his bedding, the girls are coming…
Bilbo is trying out his new collar and it’s stirred some interest.
Ferris our biggest dog takes a peak.
It’s alright Bilbo, Ferris is a gentle giant.
Feeling playful but unwilling to leave his bed, Bilbo takes to chewing the fur.
Bad behaviour like this gets our ditsy Boston Terrier Poppy a bit riled up.
Bilbo thinks this is great fun and has another go.
Poppy, who is programmed to play, can’t resist and see’s the funny side.
And so a friendship is formed between these two playful youngsters.
Getting braver, little Bilbo is soon approaching the girls for some more playtime.
Poppy is more than happy to oblige.
Rosie Pug, on the other hand, has taken on a more Motherly role and is less sure.
So, Poppy jumps back in.
Getting to know Ferris our elderly Chocolate Labrador is a much more gentle affair. Ferris loves his tummy being rubbed, I’m not sure if he’s expecting Bilbo to do it.
Bilbo is happy to give Ferris a bit of a sniff while he has the chance.
Other challenges when you’re a pup are more of a physical nature.
Learning about Poppy’s love of playful teasing is another thing Bilbo will have to get used to.
Rosie fills him in, Poppy likes to tease her every day.
Rosie Pug can’t help it and has her eye on the prize.
They all have a fair crack at getting the treat.
But in the end, Poppy is just too good.
Finally a tired Bilbo climbs inside,
and puts himself to bed. Ahhh, asleep at last.
They happily chomp each others necks.
But then young Poppy gets distracted.
‘Are you coming back?’
Daddy saves the day!
Well that was fun.
And so Bilbo hangs out waiting for the next playmate to stroll by.
