Festive Hampers

Christmas cheer is definitely here at my house with the arrival of 2 festive hampers.

Sent as a surprise by my hubby, one for us and one for our fur babies. It took all the will-power I could ever muster to wait until we were all together to open them.

The two treasure chests were Fortnum and Masons (ours) and Billy + Margot (doggies)

I explain, ‘you wear your Christmas clothes because you don’t get a hamper every day’.

Poppy tries to speak human. I think she wants me to get on with it.

Bilbo poses like a pro…

But soon wonders what the fuss is all about.

Poppy rallies the crowd – she recognises a dog treat when she sees one.

But Bilbo is unconvinced.

Finally time to get started!

Very soon things get a lot more interesting. Venison treats that smell divine (apparently).

They all have a try.

These nibbles go down very well.

A cupcake! Cricky this will take some skill…

One by one they all have a piece (eyes being googly and crossed – in this case that’s a good sign).

Ferris, the oldest and wisest, spots the sticky fingers.

Posh popcorn next.

But it’s these little oatie treats were a firm favourite.

Little Poppy backs away from the mosh pit.

But every fur baby gets their share.

The Billy + Margot hamper was a great success. I love my ‘the dog loves me best’ mug.

Now, with the doggies sleeping off their festive treats, it’s the human’s turn!

It’s a Fortnum and Mason’s hamper and my foodie soul is beyond excited.

Charlotte and hubby do the big reveal.

The first treat I find are my favourite cookies in the world. Dark chocolate and macadamia nut thickly coated in chocolate. Naturally, we pop open the tube and dive in.

Candied orange segments dipped in chocolate and a box of legendary Turkish Delight.

Charlotte discovered a chocolate mint collection.

The English Mitcham peppermint truffles were out of this world.

On to the next layer!

Beautifully decorated boxes peak out. This was so exciting!!

IMG_8624

Crunchy shortbread made in Scotland.

IMG_8632

This picture makes me laugh. I’m not sure, but I think Charlotte asked if we were going to open everything. ‘Why, yes! My little angel’.

IMG_8636

Andy claimed these chocolate covered stem ginger. The little box is so gorgeous.

Charlotte loved the pretty tube full of Rose Biscuits. They were really crunchy and moreish.

The final layer.

IMG_8652

The giant chunk of golden Welsh Comb honey stood out.

IMG_8653

IMG_8654

Our minds whizzed thinking of all ways we could use it.

IMG_8655

But for the time being it’s simply a stunning jar to ‘Wow’ at.

IMG_8657

Some refreshing sounding teas, such as Rose Pouchong (I’ll try this with the Rose biscuits – glee!).

IMG_8659

And jams for our Christmas morning breakfast. Burlington Breakfast marmalade and Pale Lime.

IMG_8661

IMG_8662

Hubby spots the jar of lemon curd and makes a plea for a meringue dessert (I’m more than happy, and my wifey heart swells with pride that he assumes I can achieve this sweet request).

IMG_8663

This has been the most wonderful gift from my hubby. It has made my Christmas!

IMG_8664

Just make sure you do one final sweep of the basket. Blackberry and Apple preserve, wonderful.

IMG_8666

Treat your foodie loved ones with a Fortnum and Masons hamper it’s a gift they’ll remember for years.

And don’t forget your precious fur babies. The Billy + Margot hamper was a great success.

Happy Christmas everyone! I feel like a sing song (sugar induced). Let’s hold hands and sway…

Christmas time is here
Happiness and cheer
Fun for all that children call
Their favorite time of the year

Snowflakes in the air
Carols everywhere
Olden times and ancient rhymes
Of love and dreams to share

Sleigh bells in the air
Beauty everywhere
Yuletide by the fireside
And joyful memories there

Christmas time is here
We’ll be drawing near
Oh, that we could always see
Such spirit through the year
Oh, that we could always see
Such spirit through the year…
