I’ve worried before about how to dress for dinner in Mayfair. But after years of going ‘out out’ to some swanky restaurants I feel more confident so I thought I’d share some outfit ideas for stylish ladies to wear in posh London areas.
The dress I wore in Mayfair recently would make a pretty amazing handkerchief dress for Mother of the Bride (on my radar as I am a Mother of the Bride next year!!). But, I’ve put together several chic outfits so you can feel every bit as fabulous as you are!
In an area synonymous with elegance and style it can feel pricy planning to dress for dinner in Mayfair, but with many items 1/2 price (including my dress and bag) you can feel a little at ease clicking on your favourites!
How to dress for dinner in Mayfair – or indeed other very smart areas of London – can be a bit of a pressure. You will find many young women dressed for the nightclubs in scant or sexy outfits. They would be unsuitable for most swanky restaurants. You will also find rich young adults underdressing a little. However, their clothes are usually very expensive and beautifully cut, so hold up very well.
I feel most comfortable wearing something chic, elegant, stylish but also a little different. Such as this silk satin handkerchief dress…

Many items above are 1/2 price – so be sure to check out your favourites!
We were staying in a hotel in Mayfair and had a restaurant booked so getting ready was relaxed for once, without our four dogs barking at the front door or wanting to be lifted onto the bed. This is my first ever silk satin dress and I feel very dressed up in it. It feels fabulous to wear!
Other dresses that I adore is this ruby silk dress – it’s stunning and currently 1/2 price. This was the first time I’ve ever worn a handkerchief dress and if you are unsure about this style it would be a good option for you.
I am thrilled by my clutch bag!! I bought it for my Mother of The Bride outfit but have found it irresistible, so I’m using it already!
It goes with so many things – who knew that Loganberry was such a useful colour?! It’s big enough for all the important things a lady needs and has a subtle metallic sparkle which adds a little occasion.
Another bag I have admired all winter is this gorgeous suede oxblood bag – it’s bigger for more convenience but is still elegant enough to dress for dinner in Mayfair.
Did you know that there is a move towards Victoriana influences in fashion? That’s why you’ll find lace up boots around. As cute as the ones are with ribbons – I think they are a touch girly for me so these ones are perfect and you guessed it – they are 1/2 price!!
Just in case you fancy a court shoes these ones go with this outfit beautifully (yes, lovelies – they are also 1/2 price!).
So, next time you get the opportunity to dine out in Mayfair, you can’t go wrong in an elegant silk satin dress, a cute pair of heeled boots and a stylish bag. My advise when planning to dress for dinner in Mayfair – go glam or go home!
