A little update on our ‘baby Bilbo’.
Our ªnowº green eyed boy never did get used to being on his lead, wondering why he can’t be like his older brother and sisters.
‘Come on Bilbo, the park is great fun!’
Sometimes he’d sulk so long Autumn leaves would settle on him.
He quite enjoyed chasing Poppy’s ball (only she always got to it first).
Kicking up leaves helped him to forget the lead for a while.
Back at home Bilbo has found his smile, and it’s huge. We see it when he runs and tumbles through the house with Poppy, his ears set to ‘aerodynamic’.
Bilbo loves to play with Rosie pug too, she loves him but isn’t always in the mood, unlike his playpal Poppy.
When Poppy takes herself off for a snooze any substitute will do. Brooms, mops or even sleeves can be particular fun. ‘Noooo…’.
He’s still not keen on the rain, unlike our water loving Chocolate Labrador, Ferris.
So we bought him a coat.
Ferris stands protectively over his little brother. We bought Ferris a coat once but refused to take a single step until we took it back off him.
But Bilbo seems fine.
Still just a baby, Bilbo needs to be carried on longer walks.
He’s getting heavy but no-one seems to mind.
Between little runs, we take it in turns (excuse the Sunday morning no makeup face).
Tired out, but seeking some attention, Poppy takes up the ‘tummy strokes position’.
Bilbo, fuelled by his extra feed is up for some playtime, all watched on by a comfy looking Rosie.
This pair love to bring things in from the garden. The sticks are getting bigger.
One evening Bilbo brings in something new. It wasn’t living, just a small pinecone. We all checked.
Not wanting him to choke, we took it away. ‘Giiiive…’
But this pup does get his own way sometimes.
And so far being off lead is better for all of us.
Well except when Poppy was put on the lead temporarily, so the young men at the park could keep their football.
Bilbo helped out.
Much to Rosie’s amusement!
