Wearing Gold for Saint Aymes, London

Wearing gold for Saint Aymes, London seems only right considering it is a luxury 23ct gold coffee and chocolate experience! Yes, they actually top their coffee, pastries and chocolates with sheets of gold! The walls are covered in flowers making it one of the most romantic cafés or coffee house in town! It is immensely instagrammable. You may well have ‘liked’ a picture of their 23ct gold unicorn latte’s on Instagram. You can find their stunning chocolates all over the swish London shops like Harvey Nicols and Selfridges. The coffee and chocolate house itself is near Hyde Park in Saint George’s Fields.

Metallic fashion is still very in vogue right now and I have found a shimmering light gold knit top that looks like a slouchy tee, a pair of high heels with studs and ankle straps (to die for), hoop earrings with a difference and more…

If you want to know how to wear metallics and/or you are looking for a fabulous 23ct Gold Afternoon Tea (and who isn’t?) this is the post for you!

PIN for later!

Saint Aymes, London (near Hyde Park): This is the lifestyle post for anyone wanting to learn about the instagrammable 23ct Afternoon Tea or luxury coffee and chocolate experience. We discuss the rules for dressing elegantly in gold too. Home of flower walls and the 23ct Unicorn latte. A beautiful post all round...

We arrived to Saint Aymes, London just before the snow kicked in. The ‘beast from the East’ was heading our way. My boots were tucked away in my L.K.Bennett Tote bag ready for the journey back, but for now I was going to enjoy a gold standard Afternoon Tea.

Saint Aymes, London is owned by sisters Michela and Lois whose mission is to make every moment beautiful. Everything is enchanting. Beautiful people are attracted there certainly, and selfies are taken at most tables. It isn’t at all intimidating though and the welcome is warm and friendly. The stunning creations are to be enjoyed, even by this nearly 50 year old blogger!

The top layer of our Saint Aymes, London 23ct Afternoon Tea we were given some of the Marie Antoinette (Cookies and Cream) and Babylon (Salted Pistachio) chocolates, mango macaroons and strawberry halves. All dusted and decorated with gold. It’s worth noting that their chocolate bars are like stunning pieces of art and well worth checking out. They make beautiful gifts. You can order them online.

The second layer was a simple salmon and cream cheese or cheddar cheese and pickle. Fresh and with the crusts cut off (obviously).

The bottom layer (and my husbands favourite) was the cream cake layer. Very classic and charming. The cream doughtnut fingers with the runny jam inside The cream slice with flaky layers of pastry either side and topped with thin icing. And a pretty cupcake that was less sickly and more delicious than you might imagine.

Disclosure: I get commissions for purchases made through the links on this page. There is no extra cost to you and everything I pick I love and would 100% wear myself! Thank you so much for supporting my business and the brands that support my blog.

So, my advise for anyone wanting to dress in gold is to firstly choose a gold that matches your skin and natural hair tone. My shimmering top is rose gold because I have warm tones, it also comes in oystericon (for olive tones) and silver (for cool tones).

As a general rule, metallic hues like gold, rose gold and bronze pair best with warm colours and earth tones while silver, grey and gunmetal metallics look better with cooler tones like navy blue. But you know what they say about rules, right? Don’t get too stuck on them, break them if your eyes tell you ‘damn girl that looks gooood’.

You don’t want to shine head to toe (I personally think this is a bit much) so break it up with some neutrals for a more elegant look. My shoes (which I’m totally in love with) has some studs that look like gold, other than that I have added pieces of gold jewellery. Don’t worry about matching the gold colour too much. When you’ve lived through the 80’s, when the bag matched the shoes which matched the curtains and the lipstick (you get my meaning) it feels more contemporary to NOT match too much!

Incidentally, I’ve played with my lip makeup, using a dark lipliner Savage Rose and a nude lipstick Hepburn Honey to get an antique rose colour (it looks a little bit golden). It’s another easy way to work the golden look.

So, that’s my Saint Aymes, London look. What would yours be? I always love to hear from you, so leave a comment below!
